Garage door remote and keypad specialists in Glendale, AZ
The remote only wakes the door when you are 3 feet from it, so tell us what it is doing and someone from our team calls you back.
What you get
A remote that works from the driveway
Garage door remote repair in Glendale often starts somewhere other than the remote. The chain is short: a battery, a code, a receiver in the opener and a wall control that can jam the whole thing. Each link fails in its own way, and the symptom tells you which link to look at first. A remote that works only up close often points at a weak battery. A remote that does nothing, on a door the wall button still moves, points at a pairing or receiver problem. Sorting those 2 apart is a short test.
- A remote that opens the door from the end of the driveway again.
- Every remote in the house working, not just the newest remote in the drawer.
- A keypad that takes the code first press, in the dark, with cold fingers.
- The opener left alone when the fault was never in it.

Signs
6 signs the remote is the problem
The remote works only close to the door
You are almost touching the panel before it reacts, which points at a weak battery or a receiver losing range.
The wall button works and no remote does
That splits the fault in 2: the opener and its travel are fine, and the radio side is not.
Nothing happens on any remote in the house
All of them failing at once points at a receiver or a wall control issue, not 4 dead batteries.
The remote opens the door but will not close it
A door that opens on the remote and refuses to close is often reading the beam, not the radio.
The keypad takes the code and the door does nothing
The keypad is talking and the opener is not listening, or the code was never saved to the opener.
A button on the remote is soft or stuck
A worn pad that stays down can drain the battery and block the other buttons.

Remote work is often small, and the job can be a battery, a pairing or a receiver module. If the opener itself is the fault, the price lands on the opener row. The full set of published ranges sits on the Garage Door Repair Cost in Glendale page.
Signs
What fails on a remote
The battery. A coin cell that reads fine on a tester and still cannot push a signal the length of a driveway.
The pairing. A remote the opener no longer has stored, after a power cut or a memory reset, or one that was never paired.
The receiver in the opener. The board that listens for the radio goes deaf, and every remote in the house stops at once.
The wall control. A stuck button or a bad wire at the wall station holds the circuit and locks out the radios.
A keypad code. A code never saved to the opener, a keypad that took water, or keys that no longer register a press.

Panels and doors
Repair or replace?
Replace the remote, repair the opener. A remote is the smallest part in the chain, the easiest to swap and often the part at fault. An opener is the last thing to touch. The exception is a receiver that has gone deaf on an otherwise healthy motor, where a receiver module keeps a working opener in service. Age alone does not condemn a remote. They can fail from a dropped battery door, a pocket full of keys or 1 too many summers on a dashboard. If the door opens on the wall button, the motor and the door work, and nothing about the door itself points at a replacement.
Openers
When the remote is fine and the receiver is not
Here is the test that saves money. Press a remote you know works, standing under the opener, and watch the head unit. Many openers flash an indicator or click when a valid signal arrives. No flash, no click, and the wall button still moves the door: the receiver is not hearing anything. That is a different repair from a dead battery, and a new opener is rarely the first answer to it. On some models the receiver is a module that unplugs, and a new module is a small job. On others the radio sits on the logic board and the board is the part. Either way, the diagnosis comes before the part, and the door does not need to come off the tracks for any of it.

Rules
Keypads, codes and the keypad that stopped taking the number
A keypad fails in ways a remote does not. It lives outdoors, in sun and monsoon rain, on a frame that takes the afternoon heat. The battery is the first thing to rule out, and a keypad with a flat battery can show nothing at all, no light, no beep. Then the keys. Dust and grit pack behind the buttons until a press stops registering, and the code is entered correctly and never sent. Then the code itself: a code that was saved to the keypad but never learned by the opener will light up and do nothing. A wired keypad adds a 2 wire run down the frame, and corroded contacts at the bottom of that run can be the fault on older doors. The order is battery, keys, code, then the wire.

6 questions
What people ask us
Still have a question? Call (747) 243-2089 and say what the door is doing.
Do I need a new opener if 1 remote stops working?
No. A single dead remote is a small fault. Try a fresh battery first, then re-pair it at the opener. If the other remotes still work, the opener is healthy and the problem traveled home in your pocket.
Why did every remote stop after a power cut?
Some openers clear their learned remotes when the memory loses power, and some surge events wipe the radio settings without touching the travel limits. Re-pairing each remote at the learn button can bring them back. If the learn button does nothing, the receiver is the next thing to test.
Can a keypad be repaired, or does it get replaced?
Depends on the failure. A battery, a code and a dirty keypad are all fixable on the wall. A keypad with water inside the housing or a dead board gets replaced, and the new keypad is paired to the opener the same way a remote is. The frame and the wiring usually stay.
How much does remote repair cost in Glendale?
Angi puts remote repair at $100 to $350 in its 2026 data. Angi lists remote parts alone at $20 to $300. Angi also lists a service call at $50 to $75.
My remote opens the door but will not close it. Is the remote broken?
Often not. An opener that opens on the radio and refuses to close may be reading the safety beam as blocked. Look at the eyes at the bottom of the tracks before you buy a remote. If 1 light is out or blinking, the fault is on the sensor side.
Will a remote from the hardware store work with my opener?
Sometimes. It has to match the frequency and the code type, and rolling code openers need the remote learned at the head unit. A remote sold as universal covers many brands and not all of them. Take the make and model of the opener with you, not just the old remote.
