Garage door panel and door specialists in Glendale, AZ
You see the dent every time you pull into the driveway, so tell us which section it is and we call you back.
What you get
A door that sits straight in the opening again
One damaged section can come out and a matched one go in, and the rest of the door stays where it is. That is the case for garage door panel repair in Glendale, AZ: the springs, the opener and the track are not the problem, so they stay. We go over what the damage is, how close a match will look on a door that has faded in the sun, and what a full door replacement would run. You get both numbers before you choose.
- One section swapped, the rest of the door left alone.
- Profile, color and texture checked before a panel is ordered.
- A bent hinge or a torn stile found while the section is off.
- A bottom section that seals again, with the sensor beam clear.

Signs
5 signs the panel is past a wipe down
A crack that starts at a hinge
The steel tears at the bolt holes, and the tear opens a little wider with every cycle.
A bottom section bent out of line
The door still closes, but the bottom edge stands proud and the weather seal gaps at one corner.
A dent with a hard crease
A soft dent is cosmetic. A crease that has whitened the paint has stretched the steel, and it may not press back flat.
Rust creeping up from the bottom edge
Sprinkler spray and monsoon rain can sit in the bottom panel, and Angi notes that steel, unlike aluminum, is not rust proof.
A panel that flexes under 2 fingers
Press the middle of a section. Movement that was not there last year can mean the skin has let go of the core.

A single dent sits at the low end of the dent rows. 2 damaged sections plus rust along the bottom push a door toward the replacement rows. The cost page carries the rest of the numbers, springs and openers included.
Panels and doors
Types of panel in Glendale homes
Steel sectional. A steel skin, with insulation in the insulated versions. It can dent before it cracks, so a knock can leave a shallow bowl and a hard hit a crease. HomeGuide notes that insulated doors give better energy efficiency and noise reduction.
Aluminum full view glass. An aluminum frame around tempered glass, one row per section. HomeGuide lists aluminum as lightweight but quick to dent, and the glass can crack.
Wood and composite. Wood can be stained and patched and, per HomeGuide, needs regular maintenance, while composite mimics wood with less maintenance.
Carriage house style. Steel or composite stamped to look like a pair of swing doors, with decorative handles and hinges. The stamping can hide small dents and can make a color match harder.

Panels and doors
Repair or replace?
A dent or a crack in one section is a repair. A door with rust through the bottom edge, or damage at both ends of the same panel, can be a replacement. If several sections are hurt, or the damage has torn the stile where a hinge bolts on, the money can be better spent on a door. One clean panel on a door with sound springs and a straight track is often the repair worth making. Age alone does not make a door past a panel. If the section is flat, the hinges are tight and the door runs level, a panel is the whole job. The panel is the visible part. The track, the hinges and the springs decide whether a new one is worth bolting on.
Panels and doors
Matching a panel on a door that is out of production
Profiles retire. A door hung in 1998 can have a section nobody stocks today, and the answer is measurement rather than a catalog year. Section height, the distance between hinge centers, the rib spacing and the color all get written down, then a fabricator rolls a section to that profile. Some of those profiles are still in a catalog under a different name, and a supplier check settles it before anyone rolls steel. A close match on a 20 year old door can still read a shade different, because the old panels may have chalked and the new one has not. A shade difference gets named before the order goes in. If the color has to be exact, a door is the likelier answer. If a shade is tolerable, one rolled section can cost less than a door.

Panels and doors
When a dent is a panel repair and when it is a door
A dent in the flat of a section, paint intact, is a dent repair or nothing at all. A dent on a hinge line is structural, because the hinge pulls on steel that no longer holds its shape. A dent that shoved the section into the track is a track job as well, and the door will not run true until both are handled. Then there is the car that went in too far: the bottom section, the bottom bracket and the first hinge often go together, and the track behind them can bend. One section is the job on a sound door, and a door gets priced as soon as the damage reaches the track or a second panel.

What people ask us
Still have a question? Call (747) 243-2089 and say what the door is doing.
Can one panel be replaced on its own?
Yes, if the profile can be matched and the sections around it are sound. A single section is a normal job on a steel door. The catch is color: a new panel on a door that has spent years in the sun can look newer than its neighbors.
Will a new panel match the color?
Often close, not always exact. Manufacturers retire colors the way they retire profiles. A good match starts with the original paint code if you have it, then a sample against the door in daylight. On a faded door, a small difference is normal and reads as a shadow line.
What if the profile is no longer made?
Then it can be measured and rolled. Section height, hinge spacing and rib pattern are the profile, and a fabricator can form a section to those numbers. The wait is longer and the cost can be above a stock panel. HomeGuide notes that on older doors full replacement may cost less than matching panels, and a door with 3 or more sections in that position can be a replacement.
Can a dent be pressed out?
Small shallow dents on a steel skin sometimes can, with the section off the door. A crease that has stretched the paint may not come back flat, and filler on a garage door can crack with the movement. Which kind it is gets settled before any work is booked.
Does a heavier panel need new springs?
It can. Springs are sized to the weight of the door, so a switch from a light steel skin to an insulated panel can put the door out of balance. The weight gets checked against the springs before the panel is ordered, and a spring change is priced with it if needed.
Does the opener need to come off?
The opener unit stays on the ceiling. The door is disconnected from it for the work, and the carriage goes back on afterward. Travel limits and the safety reverse get tested before the door is left with you. The force setting gets checked against the new panel as well, because an opener set for a light door strains on a heavy one.
