Garage door installers in Glendale, AZ
A new door starts with the opening, not the catalog, so tell us what the frame measures and someone from our team calls you back.
What you get
A door that fits the frame you already have
Garage door installation in Glendale starts on the ground, with a tape on the opening. Height, width, the headroom above the header, the side room at each jamb and the way the slab sits under the threshold decide what fits before a style gets picked. Get those numbers right and the door arrives, hangs square and takes a spring matched to its weight. Get them wrong and a return and a reorder can follow. Tell us what it measures.
- A door that clears the frame on the first lift, with no shim under a hinge.
- A spring wound to the weight of the door, so it stays put at half height.
- Panels that line up across the header, with an even gap down both sides.
- An operator that carries the new door without strain at either limit.

Signs
5 signs it is time for a new door
A bare opening
A new build, an addition or a converted carport, with a header and no track, springs or operator under it.
A door that never fit
Someone hung a used door in the frame and the gaps down the sides never closed, however the hinges were set.
A remodel that moves the frame
The opening changes width or height, so the door has to be ordered to the new one instead of trimmed into the old.
A garage put to work
A workshop, a gym or a room that gets used in July, where insulation is worth a look (HomeGuide).
An operator older than the door
The motor is at the end of its life and may not carry a heavier insulated door, so both go in together.

Door types for a Glendale garage
Steel sectional. Sections over a steel skin, hinged at the sides. HomeGuide calls steel the most common door material. It can dent, and a damaged section can be swapped as a panel.
Aluminum full view glass. An aluminum frame with glass in each section, for a bay that wants light. HomeGuide lists aluminum as lightweight and glass as offering less insulation, and the spring is matched to the weight of the door.
Wood and composite. Wood suits the 1920s bungalows around Catlin Court. HomeGuide notes that wood requires regular maintenance, while composite mimics the look of wood with less maintenance.
Carriage house. A sectional door with a swing door face: hinges, handles and a cross buck that are decorative. It reads as a detached garage door and runs on a modern track.
Insulated against uninsulated. A bare skin with a pan behind it, or a section with a layer of insulation inside. Insulation adds weight, so the spring is matched to the heavier door, and HomeGuide notes insulated doors give better energy efficiency and noise reduction.

Panels and doors
Repair or replace?
An opening with no door is not a repair decision, it is an order: measure, pick the door, match the spring, hang the track. The question only bites when a door is already hanging. A straight door with sound panels and working hardware is a repair, and a spring or a roller costs less than a whole door. A door with a bent bottom section, a panel cracked at a hinge and track that has been bent back into line is a replacement, because the parts stop matching and the frame may not line up again. Rust along the bottom edge pushes the same way.
How it works
What the opening has to be before a door is ordered
The door is ordered to the opening, so the opening gets measured first. Height is taken at the highest point of the slab and the lowest point of the header, not at 1 corner, because a floor that slopes toward the street changes the number. Width is taken between the jambs at the bottom and again at the top. Headroom is the space above the header, where the track and the torsion bar sit. Side room is the space beside each jamb, where the vertical track and the hinges travel. Then the floor, because a door closes on a seal and a seal only works on a line that does not wander. A frame that is out of square gets corrected before the door goes on it.

Good to know
Insulation on a west facing door
An uninsulated door is a bare steel skin with a pan behind it. A west facing door takes the afternoon sun, and an uninsulated steel door can pass heat into the garage. An insulated door carries a layer fixed inside each section, which HomeGuide says gives better energy efficiency and noise reduction. The trade is weight, because an insulated door is heavier, so the spring, the hinges and the operator are matched to it. HomeGuide calls insulation beneficial on an attached garage or one used as a workspace, and on a detached garage that stores a car and nothing else the difference can be smaller.

5 questions
What people ask us
Still have a question? Call (747) 243-2089 and say what the door is doing.
Can a new door go up on the track that is already there?
Sometimes, and the track gets checked first. A straight track with solid brackets can carry a new door of the same size. Bent track, loose brackets or a track that was cut for a lighter door gets replaced with the door, because a new door on tired track can run noisy.
How long does an order take?
The door is built to the size and the color, so the wait depends on the maker as well as the installer. A common size in a common color moves faster than a custom width or a wood door. The date is confirmed before the number is agreed.
Does a new door need a new opener?
Only if the old motor cannot carry the new door, or if it has no safety reverse that works. A modern insulated door is heavier, and a motor that was sized for a light pan door can strain. The opener is tested on the new door before the job is called done.
What if the header is low?
A low header changes the track and the spring, not the need for a door. The frame gets measured, the headroom is checked against the track the door needs, and the door is built to the space that exists. A low opening can also mean a low lift track, which changes where the door sits when it is up. Nothing gets ordered on an assumed number.
Can the old door stay until the new one arrives?
Yes, in most cases. The old door keeps working until the day of the swap, and the frame is measured while it is still up. If the old door is stuck open or off the track, it comes down sooner for safety.
